International Ship Suppliers Association

I.S.S.A is the International Association of National Association of Ship Suppliers. It was founded in Copenhagen in 1955 and registered at The Hague, Netherlands.  

There are 43 National Associations and Associate Members from other 51 countries.  ISSA represents nearly 2000 ship suppliers throughout the world. In 2005 ISSA has celebrated the golden jubilee and had launched the ISSA members Quality Programme across the 43 countries where ISSA’s national associations are located. Thereafter ISSA will be concentrating on the 51 other countries where ISSA associate member companies are to be found. 

ISSA enjoys an NGO’s with consultative status at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) 

ISSA has also been working closely with IMO – where ISSA also enjoys NGO observer status. On the ISPS code, ISSA members are providing constant feedback on how the legislation is working operationally, so that where there are any problems ISSA can bring this to the attention of IMO and seek a remedy. 

ISSA is also an Associate member of International Ship Managers’ Association (ISMA). 

The regulations concerning ship supply in the EU continue to proliferate and OCEAN, the ISSA Committee responsible for European Union affairs, maintains its close watch on the legislative process through our dedicated Brussels office.

ISSA believes that conditions should form the basis of ship supply contracts world-wide, and with the ISPS Code now fully operational, ISSA members have all the knowledge and expertise to ensure that stores arrive safely and correctly on board vessels in accordance with the code. 

The global market size of our industry is estimated at USD23 billion. Of this figure USD 13 billion is for food and duty free goods, and USD10 billion for chandlery, spare parts and technical stores.
